Lakewood Ranch pitcher Huntyre Elling threw a no-hitter, striking out 14 batters, to lead the Mustangs (4-2) to a 5-0 non-district victory over visiting Riverview on Friday.

Elling walked two batters for the Rams’ lone base runners.

Jen Trotter led the Lakewood Ranch offense by going 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles. Dana Hutchins added two hits.

MANATEE 2, KEY WEST 1 The Hurricanes won a tight one on the first day of a two-day trip to the Keys to improve to 3-1.

Taylor O’Quinn went the distance for the victory, allowing four hits and a run while striking out six and walking two.

Hailey Hopkins and Molly McDonough each went 2-for-3 for the victors.

BAYSHORE 8, CARDINAL MOONEY 4 Heather Lutz and Ashley Perry each collected two hits as the host Bruins moved to 3-3.

Agnes Raczkowski went the distance on the mound for the win.

BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 12, PALMETTO 1 (5) Madison Putnam doubled twice and drove in three runs to lead the host Panthers (3-1) past the Tigers (4-4) in a game shortened to five innings by the run rule.

Hailey Dearlove allowed a run and five hits over five innings for the victory. She and Kara Saylor each had two hits.

NAPLES ST. JOHN NEUMANN 11, SAINT STEPHEN’S 10 The host Falcons erased a 10-4 deficit to tie the game at 10, but the Celtics (3-0) scored a run in the top of the seventh to escape with the win.

Kayla Hayes scored four runs, and Allison Kanter had three hits for Saint Stephen’s (0-3).

TAMPA BERKELEY PREP 4, SOUTHEAST 1 Sarah Stevens knocked a home run out of the park, but it was the lone highlight for the visiting Seminoles, who dropped to 3-6.


MANATEE 8, PORT CHARLOTTE 5 Tyler Beeman went 3-for-5 and drove in a pair of runs as the visiting Hurricanes won their Class 7A-District 11 opener.

Scott Kelly went five innings, giving up three earned runs and six hits while striking out eight, to get the win. Tyler Souris earned the save.

Daniel Kerwin, Cord Sandberg and Daniel Lee each had two hits for Manatee (2-2).

BAYSHORE 11, MANATEE HEAT 2 Justin Lakin had two hits and walked twice to lead the Bruins (2-4) past the host HEAT.

Jame Romero and Daniel Schroeder added two hits apiece, and Jared Paparella went the distance on the mound. He allowed two runs and six hits, striking out six and walking two.

Tyler Winkelmeyer led the Heat by going 3-for-4. Zach Winkelmeyer added two hits.

RIVERVIEW 3, BRADEN RIVER 0 Sean Labsan limited the host Pirates to three hits as the Rams moved to 2-2.
