SARASOTA New College received the second-largest donation in the schools history Wednesday: $3 million from the estate of a Sarasota woman who died last fall.
Heidi Boothe, 90, donated $3 million to New College in honor of her daughter, Sharon Boothe Rider, a New College graduate who died in 2004. Her donation is topped only by a $3.752 million gift to the school from the Jane Bancroft Cook estate in 2003.
The Boothe donation brings to $20 million the total amount New College has received over the past 18 months. The school is in the midst of a $60 million fundraising effort titled the New College Promise campaign.
