MANATEE -- Southeast High School will receive $10,000 and a visit from Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles Monday thanks to a graduate who won a songwriting contest.
The money, earmarked for music education, is being donated by Stremick’s Heritage Foods/8th Continent Soymilk as part of its “Nice Job Mom; We Rock” contest, which invited mothers nationwide to submit “tips and tricks that make them rock star moms,” according to the company. Jillian Cupps, an Orlando resident and Southeast graduate, was chosen as the winner through a combination of public online votes and company representatives’ selection.
Bareilles will visit Southeast High at 1 p.m. Monday. She is best-known for her 2007 number one hit “Love Song” and has been nominated for three Grammy awards.
