GRANT JEFFERIES/gjefferies@bradenton.com A fish slides down the pouch of a white pelican on Thursday as a flock of the migratory birds gather in a lake in the 6400 block of Lincoln Road in East Manatee. White pelicans are truly Florida's snowbirds. The large white birds migrate south during the month of October and fly north around March. White pelicans do not dive for their food like our more familiar year-around brown pelican, but herd small fish into shallow water and use their pouch to scoop up their meal.
