MANATEE — A motorcyclist tried to rob a 20-year-old woman Saturday on Buckeye Road, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said.

At 4:30 p.m., the woman was heading east on Buckeye Road to a friend’s house when she was “boxed in by 15 to 20 sport-style motorcycles,” a media release said.

She told authorities she was scared, so she stopped her car in the roadway. A man got off his motorcycle, approached her car and knocked on her window.

He demanded her money, the release said.

The woman told him she didn’t have any cash and showed him her empty wallet. The man never tried to enter the car, the release said.

The woman drove to her friend’s house, where she called 911. She didn’t know the license plate numbers, the release said.
