BRADENTON -- A 16-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday and later confessed he was involved in a burglary earlier this week, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said.

On Monday, a probation officer reported that someone entered his house and took a duty pistol, ballistic vest and other items. The total in stolen goods: $3,100. The robber ran away, a media release said.

On Wednesday at 7:40 p.m., Bradenton police responded to a house in the 2300 block of 9th Avenue West after someone called and said someone was shooting a gun. The 16-year-old, who the Bradenton Herald won’t identify because he is a juvenile, was found in the front yard. He surrendered the gun, the release said.

He was arrested for “varying charges” and later confessed his involvement in the burglary. A search warrant was served at his house, where authorities recovered the stolen items.
