EAST MANATEE -- A 27-year-old Parrish man suffered serious injuries about 5:03 p.m. Tuesday when he drove off a dirt road on private property in the 37300 block of State Road 62, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The driver drove off the road to pass traffic ahead of him, and then steered back onto the dirt road.

The 2005 Ford Explorer he was driving overturned and came to rest right side up. The vehicle left a 10-foot tire mark as the driver attempted to regain control of his vehicle. The driver was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment.

A 22-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries.
