SARASOTA -- The long-running Sarasota Blues Fest has undergone some changes.
For starters, the popular event typically takes place around the first Saturday in November.
But the 22nd annual edition has now been dubbed the Sarasota Blues and Music Fest.
And it will take place Saturday, Sept. 29.
ExtremeTix and Three Zebras Entertainment took over ownership of the Sarasota Blues Fest last year.
The Houston-based made the announcement via email Thursday morning.
Later that same day, Barbara Strauss told the Herald from her home in Sarasota that she had parted ways with the festival.
She ran the Sarasota Blues Fest since 1993, sold it last year to ExtremeTix but continued on as executive director through the latest festival in November.
“The Sarasota Blues Fest is very important event to the community and I wish them nothing but the best,” said the Riverview High graduate. “But my days with the blues fest are finished.”
The debut Bradenton Blues Festival is scheduled to take place at the Bradenton Riverwalk at Rossi Park (currently under construction) in downtown on Saturday, Dec. 1.
