Four employees have been hired by Shinn & Co. LLC, a certified public accounting and consulting firm. They include Belinda Holmes as director of health care consulting, Laura Peaslee as audit supervisor, Kelly Jones as tax supervisor and Deb Glass as administrative assistant.

Jill Berg of Re/Max Alliance Group has earned the OwnAmerica Investment Certification. This certification indicates that Berg is qualified to help real estate investors learn how to best capitalize on the housing market’s influx of foreclosures, short sales and quality real estate assets at historically low prices.

Sherry Harris is the first recipient of the Dick Hillier Spirit Award, a new award named in honor of Dick Hillier. The award recognizes a First Bank employee who displays extraordinary optimism, caring, teamwork and leadership.

Pat Keever has been named vice president of business development at Contingency Telecom Auditing LLC. Keever has more than 25 years of telecom management experience and has held vice president level sales positions for both Teltronics Inc. and Advanced Telecommunications Inc. in Naperville, Ill.

John Sackett been named salesperson of the month for December at Tidewater Preserve, the 373-acre gated master-planned community by WCI Communities.

With more than 20 years of experience in finance and real estate sales -- specializing in existing and new-construction homes -- Sackett has held positions in New York, California and Southwest Florida.

Chaim Gleitmann of Xena Vallone Realty has earned the certified professional commercial designation, having completed training on the fundamental skills and proven methods used to assist sellers and buyers with listing, selling and leasing commercial real estate.

Misty Servia has been certified as a senior certified trainer for SendOutCards., whose signature product is the ability to create custom greeting cards on-line, and the company will print, stuff, stamp, address, and mail a real card with a first-class stamp within 24-hours.

C. Todd Chapman has joined the law office of Band Weintraub P.L. A former assistant state attorney in Sarasota, Chapman has more than 14 years of civil litigation experience and has tried 46 jury trials and several hundred bench trials throughout his career. At Band Weintraub, he will work in the firm’s full-service civil litigation department.

Adams and Reese Partner Jason Gaskill has been selected partner in charge of the firm’s Sarasota office. The firm has 13 partners in charge, one for each of its offices across the southern United States and Washington, D.C. Gaskill is a member of the firm’s litigation practice group and intellectual property and technology team. He handles a variety of commercial litigation matters, including construction litigation, intellectual property litigation, non-compete litigation and real property litigation, as well as various transactional matters involving the procurement and protection of intellectual property assets.

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County has named John Annis as vice president of community investment. Annis most recently served as the vice president of public policy at the Collins Center for Public Policy.
