SARASOTA -- Hundreds of fans from as far away as Holland, Canada, California, Colorado and Kansas are expected to gather at the Sarasota Classic Car Museum, 5500 N. Tamiami Trail, this Veterans Day weekend for The HHO Games.
HHO stands for the two atoms of hydrogen and one of oxygen that are separated from water when an electric current is passed through oppositely charged plates.
The hydrogen and oxygen are burned with gasoline and diesel and give vehicles a power boost, cleaner engines, prevent noxious emissions and save anywhere from 10 to 40 percent or more on gas, HHO Games organizers said.
The devices save drivers hundreds or even thousands of dollars a year on gas and diesel fuel and already power everything from 18-wheelers to a three-story, 30-gallon-an-hour Caterpillar quarrying machine, organizers said.
The HHO Games are set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Sunday. Veterans are admitted freetoday, and children and the disabled are admitted free all weekend. Regular admission: $3.
