4 burglary suspects arrested in Manatee after homeowner walks in on break-in

MANATEE -- Four suspects were arrested early Wednesday after a homeowner came home while they were burglarizing his East Manatee residence, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

When the victim arrived at his home in 3800 block of 34th Street East about 12:18 a.m., the suspects fled on foot or in a vehicle, according to a news release.

The driver, Carlton Bennett, was arrested nearby while he was looking for the others.

Suspect Richard Brennen was arrested while walking along 38th Avenue East towards U.S. 301. The other two suspects, Marquis Koonce and Torey Stockton, were arrested when they were spotted trying to get into a car on 27th Avenue East, according to the sheriff's office.

Brennen, Koonce and Stockton were each charged with burglary and grand theft, and were being held at the Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $17,500 each.

Booking information on Bennett was not yet posted on the jail website.
