“Spirit Voices from Old Manatee”

The Manatee County Historical Commission invites dedicated actors and actresses to volunteer their time and talent by auditioning for a dramatic guided cemetery tour titled “Spirit Voices from Old Manatee”. The production will be directed by professional actor, musician and stage director Preston Boyd.

ABOUT THE SHOW: “Spirit Voices from Old Manatee” is an original artistic production and program of Festival sARTée*. It will take place at Manatee Village Historical Park and the Old 1850 Manatee Burying Grounds on Saturday, October 22, 2011. Costumed thespians will personify those interred through graveside dialogue based on narratives from archives, descendants, dairies, military logs, books and legend. Souls highlighted in these cemetery vignettes are early pioneers of the Village of Manatee, veteran soldiers from the Seminole and Civil Wars, community leaders, victims of yellow fever, and other persons of interest buried within these hallowed grounds. There will be ten stops on the guided tour.

AUDITION DATES/TIMES/LOCATION: Audition dates are Friday, September 9 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm, and Saturday, September 10th from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm, at Manatee Village Historical Park, 1404 Manatee Avenue East, Bradenton, Florida.

NOTES: Qualities such as good vocal projection, animation, personality, improvisation skills and commitment to the production are desired. Experience in outdoor drama and interest in local history is a plus. Resumes and headshots are optional. There are three female parts and eight male parts. Seeking actors and actresses to personify adult characters in ages ranging from the mid 20’s – 70’s. WHAT IS FESTIVAL sARTée? The Festival sARTée expands the energy and excitement of the 3rd Ringling International Arts Festival (RIAF), in Sarasota-Manatee Counties, this fall. For two weeks surrounding the RIAF, Festival sARTée, showcases the region's world-class arts and culture ranging from theatre, dance, music, visual art, live music, circus arts and more in a variety of venues throughout Sarasota and Manatee Counties. The endeavor is made possible through a partnership of the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County, Bradenton Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, Sarasota Convention & Visitors Bureau, The Arts Council of Manatee County and Realize Bradenton.
