Fire at FPL plant in Parrish put out after hour; no injuries or loss of power

Published: August 26, 2011

PARRISH -- After burning for about an hour, a fire at the Florida Power and Light plant was extinguished Friday night, according to FPL spokesman Greg Brostowicz.

Smoke from the fire could be seen from about 10 miles away and although the cause is still under investigation, Brostowicz said “there was a fault with one of our main transformers.”

“No one was hurt and they were able to isolate the power lines, so no one lost power,” he said.
