BRADENTON -- More than 150 local businesses were honored this morning for their support of education in Manatee County.

The annual Business/Education Partnership Awards Breakfast at Freedom Village singled out those businesses and organizations who make a commitment to enhance education for county school students.

Backyard Getaway was honored for assisting Haile Middle School students in building a waterfall and designing landscaping around it at the school.

“You just need to watch it when they have those shovels and rakes in their hands,” said Dave Burns, owner of the business, as he received the award with his wife Lisa.

The company provides pond and water garden installation.

For complete details on this morning’s awards, see Wednesday’s Bradenton Herald.
