SARASOTA -- Donna Holm has been named chief financial officer for Coastal Orthopedics & Sports Medicine/Pain Management in Sarasota.
Holm, who has nearly 30 years experience in various accounting, operations and financial management roles, served as vice president of finance for Florida Community Health Centers, Inc., and as chief financial officer and later, chief operations officer for Palm Beach Orthopaedic Institute.
Manatee Memorial named a most beautiful hospital
BRADENTON -- Manatee Memorial cracked the top 10 in a national healthcare staffing companys list of the countrys 20 most beautiful hospitals.
The Bradenton hospital placed ninth, largely on the strength of its $51 million riverside addition, which opened in June 2007.
Reviewers wrote: This fledgling facility gets brownie points for challenging the eye with soaring spires and sexy semi-circle structures. (Did we take a wrong turn and hit the local space launch center??)
Manatee Memorial was one of three Florida hospitals to make the list. The others were Miamis West Kendall Baptist Hospital, which placed fourth, and Florida Hospital Waterman, in Tavares, which placed 19th.
The list comes from Atlanta-based Soliant Health, which provides traveling nurses and other workers to hospitals. The firm says having an appealing hospital makes a difference to patients and employees.
When a hospital is designed with patient and staff needs in mind, the healing process can take place with improved morale and efficiency for staff members, Soliant President David Alexander said.

AT&T adds local mobile broadband capacity
BRADENTON -- AT&T has added more mobile broadband capacity to its Sarasota-Bradenton wireless network to support mobile broadband growth, the company announced.
Customers should experience improved mobile broadband coverage and voice performance as a result of the continued investment by AT&T in its local mobile broadband network.
The Sarasota-Bradenton network upgrade involved adding new layers of frequency, also known as carriers to 12 cell sites to more efficiently manage available spectrum and increase mobile broadband capacity, the company said.
In addition, our recently announced agreement to acquire T-Mobile USA will strengthen and expand our local network. If approved, this deal means that well be able to expand the next generation of mobile broadband 4G LTE from our current plan of 80 percent of the U.S. population to more than 97 percent, said Rich Guidotti, vice president and general manager, AT&T Mobility & Consumer Markets for west, central and north Florida.
Latin chamber to announce Quinceañeras celebration
