PALMETTO -- A 21-year-old Palmetto woman was arrested early Thursday morning after she fired a pistol into the ceiling of a crowded Palmetto night club, Palmetto police report.

Palmetto police officers were outside of Club Elite, 704 10th St. W., dispersing a crowd that was beginning to gather outside at closing time.

Officers heard a gunshot inside of the club. When they entered, witnesses identified Jessica Ravenell as the person who had just fired a shot into the ceiling, according to a report.

Officers recovered the pistol that Ravenell fired and arrested her. She was booked into the Manatee County jail, where she was being held on bonds totaling $7,000 for charges of shooting in an occupied structure and carrying a concealed weapon.
