MANATEE -- A 44-year-old man was stunned with a Taser three times after resisting arrest on a DUI charge, the sheriffs office reports.
Prior to their arrival, deputies received a call that Mnichko Viatcheslav was intoxicated and becoming belligerent at about 4 p.m. while at Geckos Grill and Pub.
He then left in a gray Nissan, a media release said, and when deputies attempted to stop the vehicle on Linger Lodge Road, Viatcheslav continued a short distance and turned into a garage in the 6400 block of 68th Street East. While seated in the car, Viatcheslav attempted to close the garage door three times as deputies gave him commands to shut off his vehicle, a media release stated.
When he refused to comply, deputies grabbed the suspect and tried to get him out of the vehicle by pulling his arms. When he resisted, Viatcheslav was stunned three times before he was able to be controlled and placed under arrest, the release said.
Viatcheslav is currently in Manatee County jail and has been charged with DUI and resisting without violence.
