MANATEE — A child iwas transported by ambulance to All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg after being discovered at the bottom of a community swimming pool at an apartment complex on the 300 block of 34th Avenue Drive East, a Manatee County public safety official said.

Officials at the scene said the child was OK.

Manatee’s 911 call center received multiple calls at 3:25 p.m. Sunday about a child underwater in a community pool, said 911 Capt. Mike Turner.

“The child was discovered in the pool, underwater,” Turner said. “We got calls from people who live in the apartments and others. It was a chaotic scene.”

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office was investigating.
