LAKEWOOD RANCH — Proceeds from the eighth bridal open house at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 11 will be donated to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York.

Smoke testing of Manatee sewer lines set
EAST MANATEE — The Manatee County Utilities department will test the sanitary sewer lines along 63th Avenue East between 33th Street East and 39th Street East Sept. 9-10. The test involves putting smoke into the lines to check for leaks.
The nontoxic white smoke is forced into the sewer line to locate breaks.
Free vision screenings at area Sweetbay stores
SARASOTA — Committed to increasing eye health awareness and encouraging regular eye exams, Center For Sight has installed EyeSite Kiosks at three area Sweetbay Supermarkets.
The free kiosks (about the size of the familiar self-test blood pressure units) will be available for self-directed exams that take about five minutes to perform.
The participating Sweetbay locations are 5802 14th St. W. in Bradenton, 1254 Jacaranda Blvd. in Venice, and 1023 U.S. 41 N. in Ruskin.
