MANATEE -- A 77-year-old man was mugged early this morning while walking in the 5800 block of 34th Street West, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The man was out at 4:30 a.m. when he was approached by two males who immediately began striking him about the face, knocking him down, according to a news release.
The assailants then removed $61 from his wallet and fled in an unknown direction.
The victim suffered minor injuries to his face and was treated by paramedics, according to the sheriff's office.
