8/7 Business briefs: 'Reinvent Yourself' on Aug. 12

SARASOTA — The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee’s Institute for Public Policy and Leadership will host part two of the “Reinvent Yourself” series on Thursday from 4-5:30pm. in the Selby Auditorium at USF Sarasota-Manatee, 8350 N. Tamiami Trail.

The session is entitled “Global Connections: Thinking Outside the State” and will discuss opportunities to meet local entrepreneurs who are finding success through innovation and a vision for global connections. Panelists include Annie Eng of HP Ingredients, Victoria Finley of Osprey Biotechnics and Robert Fisher of Roaring Toyz. A follow-up workshop will be offered on Friday from 9 a.m. to noon, also in the Selby Auditorium.

3 local restaurants join The Originals

MANATEE — The local restaurants have joined the Sarasota-Manatee Originals, a nonprofit organization representing locally owned restaurants in Sarasota and Manatee counties. The new members are Ortygia and Anna Maria Oyster Bar Landside from Manatee County, and the Drunken Poet Café from Sarasota County.

The additions bring SMO’s members to 56.
