MANATEE — The Manatee Community Foundation awarded a record $1,059,009 in grants and scholarships during the fiscal year that ended May 31, Executive Director Marilyn Howard announced.
The foundation awarded 137 grants to local organizations and 37 scholarships to local students. Since it was founded in 1998, the Manatee Community Foundation has raised $5 million.
The Community Foundation of Sarasota County awarded a record $10,780,523 in grants and scholarships during the past fiscal year, according to a release from the foundation. The foundation awarded 563 scholarships and 1,801 grants, the release said.
Since 1987, the foundation has awarded more than $82 million in grants and scholarships.
Dream Oaks Camp to host gala, golf outing
BRADENTON — Dream Oaks Camp for children with disabilities will host its annual Foundation FORE Dreams Gala and Golf Tournament, “Sail Back to a Caribbean Getaway,” on Aug. 19 and 20 at Bradenton Country Club.
The gala and auction will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 19. The cost is $75 per person.
The golf tournament will begin with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start on Aug. 20. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. the day of the event. The cost is $850 per foursome.
