Feng shui consultant Rose Lettiere, of Sarasota, believes the world could use a little more peace, and that the chaos from the Gulf oil catastrophe could use some calming.

To that end, she is helping facilitate a performance of the Sri Lankan-American Pancha Thurya Drum and Dance Troupe from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Unity of Sarasota, 3023 Proctor Road.

Lettiere calls it a spiritual journey of the heart, through the medium of an ancient art form.

The Dhamma Wheel Meditation Society of Clearwater is hosting the troupe for its Florida tour. Other performances are planned for a Vietnamese Buddhist temple in St. Petersburg and the Unity Church in Clearwater on Saturday.

There will also be a performance at Holy Trinity Episcopal in Clearwater at noon Sunday.

For Lettiere, a high- light will be the participa- tion of Dhamma Wheel monk Bhante Dhammawansha, who will distribute six-color peace strings to participants and pray a peace blessing.

Dhammawansha took part in another blessing of the Gulf a few weeks ago in Sarasota, dropping holy water along the beach.

“We have strong confidence we can change the world by changing our hearts,” Dhammawansha said in a phone interview.

“The mind can conquer the world. We can change from the negative to the positive. We can change from hatred to loving kindness.Vibration and energy affect anything and anybody.”

Light refreshments will be available.

The suggested donation is $15, but no one will be excluded, Lettiere said.

Proceeds benefit the Dhamma Wheel Meditation Society.
