MANATEE — A 3-year-old boy nearly drowned Thursday night while playing at a pool with three other children, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

The child was wearing an inflatable ring and was being supervised by his aunt at the Yacht Club, 6660 Anchor Loop, just east of Interstate 75 and south of the Manatee River, at around 9:30 p.m.

The woman told deputies she took her eyes off the children for no longer than a couple of minutes when she noticed the boy was unconscious and floating face down, according to the report.

The woman screamed, getting the attention of a nurse and paramedic who were working out nearby in the gym.

The nurse performed CPR and was able to revive the child, who was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for observation, according to the report.
