The Dick Vitale Gala for Cancer Research was held May 21 at the Ritz-Carlton Sarasota. The event honored Michigan State head basketball coach Tom Izzo. Coach Izzo was introduced by Magic Johnson. Also honored was NFL Super Bowl Championship coach Tony Dungy. Coach Dungy was introduced by Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell.

The event raised more than $1.2 million for Pediatric Cancer Research. Guests included Magic Johnson, Kenny Chesney, Tommy Lasorda, Roy Williams, Gary Williams, John Calipari and more.
