— ELLENTON -- A 24-year-old man was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries after he ran a pickup truck into a house.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Miller, the man was driving a white Ford F150 pickup truck south on 82nd Avenue East when he blacked out.

The vehicle entered the driveway of a home in the 2500 block of 82nd Avenue East, hit a culvert pipe, crossed over the front lawn and smacked into the front of the home near a window.

The home's residents were not inside at the time of the crash.

Manatee County Emergency Medical Service and the North River Fire Rescue responded to the incident and the driver was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, Miller said.

The Manatee County Building Department assessed damage to the home and found it was structurally safe for the family to stay in the house overnight.

No one else was injured in the incident. No charges were immediately filed.
