3/18 Business briefs: Law firm getting new building

BRADENTON — Holland Construction has been selected to build the new corporate headquarters for the Law Office of Lavely & Whyte, P.A., in Bradenton.

Holland expects to break ground on the office building this spring, with construction completion planned for this fall.

The new building will be located just east of downtown Bradenton on Manatee Avenue East and will contain nearly 4,000 square feet of office space.

The architect on this project is Moore2Design. Lavely & Whyte has offices in Bradenton, Sarasota and St. Petersburg, with four of their employees expected to occupy the new building upon completion.

New buffet restaurant opens in Bradenton

BRADENTON — East Coast Buffet, 5728 14th St. W, celebrated its grand opening and joining the Manatee Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week.

Ken Chen and NanNan Xu are owners/managers of the restaurant, which features hot and cold buffet stations and Chinese, Japanese, American and sushi cuisine. Beer and wine also are available. Information: 758-1600.

Wireless tower firm gets $15 million

BRADENTON — Tarpon Towers LLC, a Bradenton-based wireless communications tower company, said it has received a $15 million equity commitment from a private investment fund.

As part of the deal, Spire Capital Partners will get a seat on Tarpon’s board of directors.

Tarpon owns 85 towers in Florida and 13 other states, and has another 200 sites in development. Spire is a New York private equity firm focusing on the business services, information services, communications and media sectors.
