The Lakewood Ranch High girls tennis team edged Saint Stephen’s 5-2 on Monday.

Picking up wins for the Mustangs (7-2) were Cari Berry, Katherine Pyne and Alyssa Corcoran at singles and the doubles teams of Corcoran and Sammi Aiezza at No. 1 and Lindsey Rechcigel and Kaizzelle Tatualla at No. 2.

Boys tennis

BAYSHORE 4, OUT-OF-DOOR ACADEMY 3 — The Bruins (7-1) got singles victories from Tianyu Bao, Pedro Garcia and Nikesh Srivastava, and Garcia and Srivastava teamed for a win at No. 1 doubles.

ODA scored victories from Wes Kean, Zach Balit and the doubles team of Kevin Frey and Marcus Buffett.

Prep baseball

BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 13, CITRUS PARK CHRISTIAN 3 — Christian Gould fired a four-hitter in six innings of work, striking out four and helping the visiting Panthers (5-5) get back to .500.

Josh Thomas was 4-for-5 with two doubles, and Chase Carter, Johnny Prince and Tucker Owen each had two hits.

MANATEE HEAT 12, CAPE CORAL OASIS 1 (5) — Josh Nelson was 2-for-3 with a single, double, triple and three RBIs for the host HEAT.

Jacob Arfons (2-for-3, three RBIs), Garrett James (2-for-3, RBI) and Gilbert Dodson (2-for-2, two RBIs) helped back winning pitcher Gus Brown.

PENDLETON 6, COUNTRYSIDE 1 — Matt Marcin and Carlos Somoza both hit solo homers and Gavin Patton and Richard Vaerga has two hits each to lead the visiting Panthers (6-2).

Winning pitcher Blake Perry struck out four and gave up one hit.

Prep softball

MANATEE 2, RIVERVIEW 1 — The visiting Hurricanes were helped by strong pitching from starter Caroline Kurran (five innings) and reliever Shannon Brockett.

Brockett was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Shelby Knox and Sara Magley were also 2-for-3 for Manatee (8-5).

JV: Visiting Manatee (8-4) beat Riverview 5-0, behind Taylor O’Quinn’s six-inning shutout.

Kiley King and Reesey Byrne each had three hits, and Courtney Bristow was 2-for-4.

SARASOTA 2 BRADEN RIVER 1 — Hannah Lawyer knocked in the visiting Pirates’ lone run, and teammates Brooke Ribarich, Ashley Allard and Casey Wells had Braden River’s other hits.

Courtney Mirabella struck out 10 and walked one for the Pirates (10-3).
