Fundraiser for Southeastern Guide Dogs
LAKEWOOD RANCH — The Gulf Coast Builders Exchange has partnered with General Contractor W.G. Mills, Inc. in Barkitecture, a fundraising event May 15 for the Southeastern Guide Dogs.
Local architects and builders are invited to design and build a Barkitecture house for dogs which will be auctioned off.
W.G. Mills, Inc. submission is called the “Catahoula Cracker Inn,” a combination of state-of-the-art construction and old-time cracker charm.
The event will be held at the Grande Clubhouse in the Lake Club at Lakewood Ranch. The evening will feature music, bar, food and a live auction of specialty-designed Barkitecture houses. All proceeds raised will support the Southeastern Guide Dogs.

Planet Fitness opens gym on Manatee
BRADENTON — Planet Fitness is having a grand opening Thursday at its new 6605 Manatee Ave. gym at 10 a.m.
The fitness center is offering a grand opening special. New members can join the gym for $1 down and $10 a month.
The gym features 80 cardio machines, including treadmills, ellipticals, arc trainers, and bikes. The cardio area is equipped with 23 flat-screen TVs. The club also will have two full circuits of strength machines, a 30-minute Planet Fitness Express Circuit, tanning booths, massage chairs, and locker rooms.
Chipotle Grill raises money for schools
MANATEE — Today half of all purchases made at the Chipotle Mexican Grill between 5 and 8 p.m. will go to Manatee High School if a fundraising flyer about the event is presented.
