The Service Club of Manatee County, a volunteer organization that has been serving the needs of our community’s children for 83 years, presented its 45th annual Antiques and Collectibles Gala on Feb. 26 at the Manatee Convention Center.

Leading the charge this year for the Service Club were President Polly Gaar, with event co-chairs Vicki Zulanas and Ruth Ann Szymanski heading up a hands-on steering committee for the Antiques & Collectibles Gala and Show which continued through the weekend.

Gala guests noshed on an elegant array of hors d’oeuvers and desserts that were lovingly prepared by Service Club members, and enjoyed the opportunity to get the first peak at the treasures from more than 45 vendors. Entertainment was provided by Father Roy Tuff and Preston Boyd.

The Easter Seals of Southwest Florida, one of the many beneficiaries of the Service Club, displayed incredible artwork which is the result of their “Art Initiative Program.” The Easter Seals’ Kameron Partridge and Susannah Cripe expressed their appreciation to the Service Club, noting that programs such as this exist because of the tenacity of these tireless volunteers.

Among those enjoying a little girls’ night out time were mothers and daughters: Lee and Lauren Elliott, Amy and Victoria Quinn and Dianne Dickson and Kimberly Mills.

Girlfriends Sandy Mackie, Deb Bay, Jennifer Harrison and Barbara Polis. Nancy Regal and MaryAnn Bott, while enjoying their evening, were happy to be able to provide a little “financial” support.

Kudos to the women of The Service Club of Manatee County, who have energized this community with their spirit of philanthropy.

Nancy Allen, a Pittsburgh native, mother of three, community volunteer and full-time Realtor, is proud to call Bradenton home.
