Misty Servia, planning manager with King Engineering Associates, has been appointed to the board of directors at the Pace Center for Girls. PACE provides girls and young women an opportunity for a better future through education, counseling, training and advocacy.

Brent A. Johnson has joined the Sarasota office of SchenkelShultz Architecture as vice president of federal programs. A retired United States Army Colonel with 27 years of military service, Johnson will provide overall project management based on his certification as a military master planner. He will use his experience and expertise to help grow the firm’s Department of Defense portfolio.

Dr. James M. McGovern has joined Carter Psychology Center, effective Feb.1. McGovern brings his expertise in neuropsychology to Carter Psychology Center, which has been established in Manatee County since 1987.

Crystal Riganati has joined Kerkering, Barberio & Co., as the administration coordinator. She has a bachelor’s in psychology with a minor in business administration from Florida Atlantic University. Prior to joining the firm, she was with Bombardier in Ft. Lauderdale as the training coordinator/quality assurance assistant. As the administration coordinator, her primary role will be providing human resources and employee benefits support to the KB companies.

Jenifer S. Schembri, a partner in the Sarasota office of Kerkering, Barberio & Co., has joined the board of directors of the Sarasota Manatee Association for Riding Therapy. SMART has been in existence since 1987 and is a member of the American Riding for the Handicapped Association. SMART provides an all-encompassing horsemanship program that provides the participants with many physical, emotional and cognitive benefits such as an increase in physical strength and stamina, an improvement in posture, balance and coordination, and in increase in attention span and independent skills.

Angie Chromiak-Sears, who is the courier in the central receiving department at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, was the recipient of the Quiet Quality Award for January 2010. The Quiet Quality Awards were implemented in the fall of 1996 by the staff senate with strong support from USF administration in a collaborative effort to increase employee recognition.

Anthony J. Abate, partner in the Sarasota Office of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, has been elected to the board of directors of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sarasota County. Abate’s practice involves commercial disputes of any nature in the form of business litigation and alternative dispute resolution, including arbitration and mediation, with an emphasis on construction, probate and trust, and eminent domain litigation.
