Pirates to host baseball clinic for women

February 17, 2010

The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced the team will host the first-ever Baseball Basics Clinic for Women on March 26 at McKechnie Field. Participating women will receive interactive professional instruction in baseball fundamentals by Pirates players, coaches and trainers.

On-field instruction will be presented in five areas – hitting, fielding, pitching, catching and base running. A sixth station – Clubhouse Chatter – will offer participants a question and answer session with a player.

The clinic is limited to the first 125 women 16 and older, and the cost is $30. Campers will receive a t-shirt, photo CD and one ticket to the 1:05 p.m. March 27, 2010 Pirates Spring Training game against Toronto. Dinner will be provided afterwards.

Proceeds from this event will be donated to the United Way’s Women’s Leadership Initiative through Pirates Charities.

The Baseball Basics Women’s Clinic will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with registration starting at 6:30 p.m. For more information or to register, contact Stacy Morgan at (941) 747-3031, ext. 4365 or by e-mail at stacy.morgan@pirates.com.
