Braden River Rage soccer dominates

The Braden River Rage’s U-14 girls soccer team continued its dominance on the soccer field with its latest tournament win last month in the Orange Classic Soccer Tournament in Fort Lauderdale.

The Rage went 6-2 in the tourney, defeating West Pines United 1-0 in the semifinals. In the title match, Braden River blanked Pinecrest Premier 1-0. In five games during the tournament, Braden River scored eight goals and allowed two while defeating teams from Virginia, Connecticut and Miami.

With the performance, the Rage is ranked 88th by gotsoccer.com, 12th in Region 3 and third in the state.

Manatee wrestlers dominate

Manatee Youth Wrestlers recently competed in USA Wrestling’s Dixie Nationals Wrestling Championships in Atlanta. In the Minion Duals, a local team made up of Noah Wadle, Blaize Colmorgen, Jack Marble, Jacob Main, Robert Dykes and Zach Doran finished fifth in the elementary division. Hunter Reed, a member of Manatee Kids Wrestling program, participated with Heat Wave’s national team, which took third place in the elementary level. Jesse Fulk won second place for Heat Wave’s middle school division.

In the individual brackets, Fulk, who wrestled in the 14-U class at 110 pounds, was the lone national champion, going undefeated in the tournament to win his second national title.

Wadle, who wrestled in the 6-U group at 50 pounds, won three consecutive matches and finished second in his division.

Eight-year-old Brandon Tackett, 40 pounds, took second place in his bracket, while Reed, who competes in 12-U at 70 pounds, won four matches and finished in fifth place. Doran, who wrestled in 12-U at 120 pounds, won second place in his bracket.

MAV wins volleyball title

Manatee Area Volleyball’s 15 Elite team recently won first place in the AVCA Holiday Tournament. MAV went undefeated in the tournament, defeating NFVA Elite, Pinellas Heat Elite, Tampa Bay Juniors and Pinellas Heat Black. MAV swept NFVA in the title game.
