Manatee deputies hit woman, 20, with Taser

MANATEE - A Manatee County sheriff's deputy Monday evening used a Taser to take down a 20-year-old woman who fled from deputies trying to make a traffic stop, according to the sheriff's office.

A deputy attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Brittany D. Thomas of Palmetto in the 700 block of U.S. 41 about 9:35 p.m. for having no tail lights. Thomas pulled into the Palmetto Trace Apartments and attempted to flee on foot.

She was arrested after a deputy hit her with a Taser.

Thomas faces a charge of driving with a suspended license.

As deputies were attending to Thomas, a male juvenile was arrested on an obstruction charge. after he refused to stay back.
