MANATEE - No one was hurt in a fire that caused extensive damage to a house in Northwest Bradenton early this morning, according to West Manatee Fire & Rescue.
The blaze in the garage of the home in the 1100 block of 64th Street West was reported at 2:43 a.m. by the residents, who were awakened by the sound of the fire, according to a news release.
Firefighters battled the blaze for 20-30 minutes and were able to contain it the garage. However, there was extensive smoke and water damage throughout the residence.
West Manatee Fire & Rescue and the state fire marshal's office were investigating the cause of the fire. Damage was estimated to be worth $100,000 to $200,000.
Other departments responding to the fire included Cedar Hammock, Bradenton and Manatee County EMS.
