Now it’s official — minor league baseball is coming to Bradenton.

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced Tuesday they have purchased the Florida State League team in Sarasota and will move it to McKechnie Field. The move was approved Tuesday afternoon by the FSL owners during their meeting in Daytona Beach.

The high Single-A team will play a 140-game schedule, and its home opener will be played April 8. A fireworks display will follow.

Season tickets will cost $210, and $25 deposits for season tickets are being accepted now by calling (941) 747-3001. Those who already have season tickets for Pirates spring training games will have the first opportunity to buy tickets in those same seats for the FSL season.
