MANATEE — Local law enforcement will keep an extra watchful eye this Halloween on registered sexual predators and offenders on supervision, community control or probation.
No decorations, porch lights nor anything else that might entice children to a residence are allowed.
In a notice being hand-delivered to those predators and offenders, Bradenton Police Chief Michael Radzilowski warns: “Be advised that your status as a state registered sexual predator or offender may prohibit unsupervised contact with children. You may be prohibited from displaying Halloween decorations that can entice or lure children to your residence.
“Bradenton police officers will be monitoring your activities ... to ensure compliance with any court orders in this regard.”
Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies and probation offices will patrol in the areas of these predators and offenders, too, says sheriff’s spokesman Dave Bristow.
Bristow said there are 53 cases in Manatee with individuals on probation with orders for no contact with children.
Those offenders and predators have or will soon be notified by deputies and/or probation offices of the Halloween monitoring, he said.
“Failure to comply with court conditions could be a violation of probation and may subject you to arrest. Specific questions regarding this issue should be directed to your probation officer,” concludes Radzilowski’s notice.
