Lakewood Ranch swim team finished fourth at Tri-County Meet

Lakewood Ranch had a fine day during Saturday’s Tri-County Meet at the Sarasota YMCA, finishing an area-best fourth in the overall standings with 501 points.

The girls team was third with 307 points, getting wins from Danielle Valley (200- and 500-meter freestyle) and Ashley Reid (100 breaststroke).

Manatee’s Rachel Harrington won the 100 butterfly.

The Mustangs boys finished third, as well, with 194 points.

Cardinal Mooney’s Patrick Ceddia won two events (the 100 and 200 freestyle events).

DISTRICT MEETS

Swimming’s postseason begins during the weekend of Oct. 30 and 31 at numerous venues.

Manatee, the only local team in Class 3A-District 6, will swim in its district meet Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Sarasota YMCA. The finals are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.

Bradenton Christian, Cardinal Mooney, Out-of-Door Academy and Saint Stephen’s will also be in action on Halloween. That meet will take place at the North Shore Pool in St. Petersburg, with the finals to begin at 5 p.m.

Bayshore, Braden River, Lakewood Ranch and Southeast get underway Friday, Oct. 30 at the North Shore Pool for the Class 2A-District 9 meet, with the finals to begin at 5:30 p.m.

COUNTY MEET

The Manatee County championship is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday at G.T. Bray, with all the county teams slated to participate.
