MANATEE — A state senator said Thursday he plans to file a bill that would require Florida to create a task force on Chinese drywall, saying the state has moved too slowly on the issue. Sen. Dave Aronberg, D-Greenacres, said the drywall issue should be included in any special session held before the next regular session. “We need to hit the ground running,” Aronberg said in a press release. Aronberg said the proposed task force would consist of homeowners, builders, scientists and others who would develop recommendations for handling the issue. Legislators then could act on those recommendations during the 2010 regular session, he said. Aronberg first called for such a body in April, but it has not been created because of time-consuming scientific studies being done by various state agencies, he said.
