BRADENTON — Zach Hammond to Mike Curry worked for three aerial touchdowns — one of 85 yards — and Jared Williams ran for two TDs Friday night as the Bradenton Prep Patriots exploded for a 45-6 win over Shenikah Prep.
The game was scoreless through a quarter and a half until defender Ed Brown sacked the quarterback for a safety.
Previously, two penalties inflicted on the Shenikah punter, one roughing and one for a facemask, had stymied the Patriot’s attack. With the win, Bradenton Prep is now 4-0 this season.
After the safety, Shenikah punted and the Patriot’s offense began to roll toward a 16-0 halftime lead. The first TD drive was capped by Hammond’s 27-yard pass to Curry.
At halftime, coach Joe Hammond’s defense had held Shenikah to 18 total yards.
In the second half, Curry hauled in a 9-yard score and the 85-yard bomb.
Williams’ scoring runs were of 15 and 20 yards. He finished the game with 22 carries for 152 yards.
Hammond completed 15 of 18 tosses for 228 yards, and Curry caught six passes for 157.
Bruce Livingston’s interception return of 48 yards for a TD capped the scoring. Livingston, Brown, John Johnson and Andrew Wright terrorized Shenikah’s quarterback, totaling nine sacks.
LAKELAND CHRISTIAN 21, SAINT STEPHEN’S 0 — The Saint Stephen’s Falcons suffered their first loss of the season in a 21-0 defeat at Lakeland Christian on Friday night.
