Out-of-Door Academy’s football game against Naples First Baptist scheduled for Friday has been cancelled because of a scheduling conflict.

Officials from both schools thought they were hosting the game, and neither was willing or able to play the game on the road.

“Both teams needed to play home games this week,” ODA athletic director Jason Peters said, “so we decided not to play each other. They found a team to play in their open slot, and we decided to take a week off and get ready for district play.”

The Thunder will still have their regularly scheduled bye on Oct. 2.

ODA lost a bigger, stronger Cardinal Mooney team last week, and Peters said the Thunder’s coaching staff felt it was beneficial to use this week to heal minor injuries before traveling to Naples St. John Neumann for a Class 1B-District 6 matchup next Friday.
