Number of Graduates: 39

Speakers: Greg Beekhuizen, Zach Denison

Shining Moment: Class of 2009 speaker Zach Denison said that six years ago he was so terrified of public speaking that he intentionally did a poor job on his classroom speeches to avoid speaking in front of the school. But, as a graduate in his cap and gown, Denison seemed totally confident, drawing laughter when he quipped that the Class of 2009 lost every homecoming competition because, “We were so busy we didn’t bother to win homecoming.”

Best quote: “I love this class. It has athletes, artists and intellectuals. I can’t imagine BCS without your faces in the hallways,” teacher Greg Beekhuizen.

Interesting sight: Panther Cubbies is the name for the Bradenton Christian School kindergarten students, all of whom are paired with a senior partner. Before the graduation, the cubbies gave their senior partners gifts and exchanged hugs. Later, the Cubbies sang for the seniors. “The cubbies see the seniors as role models and it helps the seniors to be accountable because someone is looking up to them,” said elementary music teacher Jan Bell.
