MANATEE - A masked gunman broke into an East Manatee home late Thursday and robbed a woman of cash, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The robbery happened about 11:50 p.m. at a residence in the 3800 block of 78th Avenue East, just south of Tallevast Road, according to a news release.

The victim told investigators that when she got out of bed and went to the den to work on the computer, she found the gunman standing in her living room near the rear sliding glass door. The suspect pointed a silver handgun at the woman and demanded all her money. He took the cash and fled, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies set up a perimeter and a police dog was called in for the search, but no arrest was made.

The woman was not injured, and her three children were asleep during the robbery.

The suspect was described as wearing a black mask, a black long sleeve shirt and black pants, according to the sheriff's office.
