Chet Sarnowski

Window D'cor and Designs Chet Sarnowski, owner of Window D'cor & Designs, has lived the American Dream. Originally from Bradenton, Chet started out as an installer, then moved up to salesman, and eventually owned six stores from Tampa to Naples.

In 2005 Chet decided to downsize from a large company and sold 5 of 6 locations, keeping one store for himself to run with his best employees from all the other stores. ÒWe sell every type of window treatment, Chet says, from basic blinds to shutters, basic drapes to high-end top treatments. And, to the surprise of most customers, we have great prices! Window D'cor & Designs' success has been built on referrals, repeat business and great customer service. In my 30 years of business, I've seen over 50 different window treatment stores go out of business and we're still here, going strong!

The showroom is 5-10 times the size of a typical window treatment store, with lots of glass and everything displayed in real size, including 75 full-size top treatments. Though the business offers free in-home consultations with one of the staff designers, Chet recommends customers come into the store itself as well. Customers who come in are always glad they did our displays offer many options and are often exactly what the client is looking for.

Chet has always made it a point to stay one step ahead of the trends. The traditional 70's and 80's look was replaced with vertical blinds, which led to the more basic functionality we see today. But people now want to embellish the tailored look of shutters, shades and blinds with the warmth and style of top treatments." These gorgeous top treatments, currently being used in many model homes and magazine layouts, are available in Window D'cor & Designs' more than 15,000 fabrics.

In spite of being a busy entrepreneur, Chet is very involved in local Boy Scouts. The Sarnowskis' two sons play hockey, and Chet is a Level 4 Coach whose team travels to places like Miami, Atlanta, and North Carolina for tournaments. Chet and his wife also make weekly trips to hospitals and schools, bringing service dogs to interact with handicapped and Downs Syndrome children.

It's rewarding to see kids who perhaps can't communicate with people really connect with an animal.
