PHILADELPHIA — Game 5 of the World Series will not be played Tuesday night. It has been tentatively scheduled for Wednesday at 8:37 p.m.
“While obviously we want to finish Game 5 as soon as possible, the forecast for today does not allow for us to continue the game this evening. We are closely monitoring (Wednesday’s) forecast and will continue to monitor the weather on an hourly basis. We will advise fans as soon as we are able to make any final decisions with respect to (Wednesday’s) schedule,” baseball commissioner Bud Selig told MLB.com.
The game was suspended late Monday night with the score tied at 2-2 and the Phillies coming to bat in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Phillies lead the Rays 3-1 in the best-of-seven series, needing one win to claim their first World Series title since 1980.
