The scoop:Braden River safety Chris Calloway is questionable with a sprained foot. Back-to-back victories against Class 5A-District 11 teams would be a major milestone for the Class 3A Pirates, but head coach Josh Hunter is more concerned they don't lay an egg like they did after last season's upset against Lakewood Ranch. A repeat of 2007's 28-0 shellacking at the hands of the Indians is unlikely, given the Pirates have matured and are stronger on both sides of the football. But victory will require a virtually mistake-free performance. The Indians have two serious threats in junior quarterback Trey Burton, who already has verbally committed to Florida, and senior running back Dri Archer. Braden River counters with junior running back Jajuan Bell, who rambled for 209 yards and both touchdowns against Lakewood Ranch, and senior receiver Willie McNeal. But it's on defense where guys such as linebackers Trevor Barnes and Tevin Bryant need to step up to make an upset possible. The score: Venice 28, Braden River 13.
