Drunk driving checkpoint planned

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office announced it will set up a DUI checkpoint on a major roadway in south Manatee County.

The checkpoint will be operating from 10:30 p.m. today to 4 a.m. Saturday. Officers with the Florida Highway Patrol, Bradenton Police Department, Bradenton Beach Police Department, Holmes Beach Police Department, Longboat Key Police Department and Palmetto Police Department will assist in the checkpoint.

Members of the Manasota Chapter of M.A.D.D. and the Salvation Army also will be on hand.
