Convicted killer Blaine Ross today was sentenced to die by lethal injection, for killing his parents in 2004.

Circuit Judge Edward Nicholas handed down the sentence, during a hearing this morning at the Manatee County Courthouse. The jury that in April had convicted Ross, 25, of using a baseball bat to kill Richard and Kathleen Ross while they slept in the family's East Manatee Home, had recommended by an 8-4 vote, that Ross receive the death penalty.

Nicholas was required by state law to give the recommendation "great weight," but he had the final say.
