Mote Marine Laboratory staff and the Hilton Longboat Key Beachfront Resort will lead complimentary, leisurely 1.5-mile sea turtle walks with special state-permitted volunteers from the Longboat Key Turtle Watch starting at 6:45 a.m. and every Saturday during the months of June, July and August. We have lived in one of the best-kept secrets of southern Manatee County for almost 30 years, Oak Grove Park. What can I tell you about Oak Grove Park? We are a unique subdivision made up of 48 acreage home sites, just north of University Parkway between the interstate and the airport.
Greenfield Plantation has been our home now for a little over two years. My wife, Linda, and I had moved from northern Ohio, in 2003 and lived in west Bradenton and North Port before moving east.
We retired in San Jose, Calif., in 1992 and decided to move to Sarasota where we have children. We bought a home and after 13 years we decided to downsize.
Growing up in Washington, D.C., and then moving to Maryland and on to West Virginia, I never thought I would make Florida my home, but I did.
Prior to my retirement in 1997 from a large international electrical products manufacturing company, my wife and I felt that we wanted to live in a lake home located near the Georgia-South Carolina border. Within two years we realized that lake living was not at all what we wanted it to be since the winters seemed much too long and there was too little to do when we couldn't be out on the water.

Main Street at Lakewood Ranch will host Music on Main concert 6-9 p.m. today and every first Friday of the month. Listen to the variety music of Air Tight.
